Positive Mental Health
I wanted to write a post about what I mean when I say I’m passionate about mental health.
I think when I say one of my core values is positive mental health, people often assume I have a mental health problem. It’s interesting because I think all humans, at some point in time, have a mental health problem. I might be experiencing mental health problems when I state I’m passionate, or I might not. I think no matter what it’s important not to forget what you’ve gone through. Just because you feel amazing or mentally stable doesn’t mean you can’t be passionate about mental health or helping others.
So when I say I’m passionate about mental health I mean I’m passionate about feeling great. I am passionate about speaking about things that people often don’t talk about. I’m passionate about helping others. I’m passionate about taking care of myself. I hope that one day when I say I’m passionate about mental health people will see it as a strength. I hope people will see it as me, a human-being, being strong enough to recognize that life is hard sometimes but if you keep taking care of yourself and others, majority of the time we will have positive experiences instead of negative ones.
