Often people like to come to you when they need someone to talk to, which can lead to many one-sided relationships or the dreaded scope-creep with clients.

Establishing boundaries with your clients and the people in your life is a must.

Well, I’ve done my fair share of building audiences for clients. I’m an Advertising Expert, and an OSP & Freelancer Coach!

I started my business as a side hustle in 2017. In 2020, I was miserable at my job, so I quit, prioritized my mental health, and started working on my business that’s now financially supported my partner in going back to school to get his engineering degree, we bought our dream house, and I’ve been able to support a very luxe lifestyle for our rescue dog, Jaxx!

Your strengths are in your compassion. When you converse with people they can truly see who you are and why they should work with you.

Let’s break your strategy down in to two sections:

 

Inbound Marketing

This type of strategy brings customers and clients to YOU. It’s essentially attraction marketing. You put a message out into the world that initiates action in your ideal audience. This type of marketing typically goes out to a large group of people.

Examples: Posting on social media, SEO blogging, Pinterest, posters/billboards

Outbound Marketing

This is going out and initiating conversations with your ideal audience. Rather than hoping your audience will come to you, you go to them. This type of marketing is more targeted, and often more in 1:1 conversation.

Examples: Chatting in the DMs, networking, Meta Advertising

 


So which will you mostly use in YOUR business? Outbound!

While you’ll really use both, Outbound will be the closing strategy & Inbound Marketing will draw in interest for your biz. (After all, you need to attract people before chatting with them.)




 

Your Inbound Marketing Strategy

You’ll post content on your chosen platform, whether it be your blog, Pinterest, Instagram, Threads, etc, that really shows your voice and values. Yes, you’ll focus content on your expertise, BUT it shouldn’t just be ‘how to’ content, it should show your unique perspective.

I want you to answer these questions in your content:

  • How can I showcase my conversational skills?

  • What wins can I showcase for my clients? For myself?

  • How can I better explain how my compassion has helped my clients?

  • Why is my perspective within my expertise unique? Does it relate to how kind & welcoming I am?

  • How can I better showcase how much I care about my audience?

  • How can I invite people into my world (aka DMs, email, etc) in a fun, low-pressure way?

 

With this inbound marketing strategy, you’ll capture the right people’s attention.

Once you have their attention, you’re going to begin your Outbound Strategy ⬇




 

Your Outbound Marketing Strategy

Honestly, your DMs are where you’re gonna shine. No matter what social media you use.

Be proactive and initiate conversations with your audience by reaching out to individuals who engage with your content or show interest in your niche. Respond to comments, ask open-ended questions, and show genuine curiosity about their experiences and opinions. This approach will create opportunities for meaningful interactions and build connections with potential clients.

The trick here is letting the conversation flow. It’s important to show that you care right off the bat, but it doesn’t need to be business related. People do not like cold selling. You need to build a relationship with your audience.

How can you be the encouraging voice that they needed to hear?

Remember, when you’re having a conversation with someone, you should never enter it with the mindset to “sell”, always enter with the mindset of building a new connection. Having a strong network will always benefit you whether they purchase from you or not.
