"do reels," they said, "it'll be fun," they said

I don't know about you, but I have ~mixed feelings~ about how hard video is being pushed on social media right now.

Literally, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn and EVERYWHERE are pushing video.

When reels first became a thing, I thought, "fuck." I didn't want to dance. I didn't want to make thirst traps. I didn't want to point at invisible words. *Obviously, nothing is wrong with these types of videos, but the thought of all of it made me uncomfortable. Having to show up in a way I didn't want to made me uncomfortable.

It sucks because videos are engaging. I LOVE listening to people I admire talk in their Instagram Story. I LOVE watching funny dogs on Tiktok. I LOVE mini trainings on reels.

But do I have to be one of the people making these reels?

I pondered it for a while, and I realized... the answer is no.

I don't have to make Instargam Reels.

Let me tell you something, and let it sink in...

You don't need to use every part of social media to have a successful business.

I know. It's revolutionary. And there's probably an IG Strategist pulling their hair out as they read this, but hear me out.

If something makes you wildly uncomfortable, you don't have to do it. There's a BIG difference between pushing yourself to do something you want to do but are afraid to do, and pushing yourself to do something you do not want to do & are afraid to do.

✨There are other ways you can show up✨
